Once you're completed ESP Course Pack pp. 34-42, write your blog response on the following questions:
What are your MIS and LEAD results?
What are SPECIFIC ideas for applying this feedback to your learning? In other words, how can you apply this information to your learning in English 60 and Math 20 for the rest of this semester?

Due: Before our next class meeting
Length: Two well-developed paragraphs

  1. My top score for the MIS results was Intrapersonal. The results I got for LEAD was Tacile. I can apply this feedback to my learning in a few ways. Well first for the intrapersonal says that I am aware of my own feelings and does not like to work in groups. The first part is correct, but I do like working in groups so that part of the feedback didn't help. It says how I like to study by myself, it can help more in English 60 and Math 20 because I can be more focused on the studying that studying with more people.
For the LEAD results, tacile deals with more of the hands on approach. We take alot of notes in Math, so that can help because it is hands on. It says does not concentrate well just by sitting and reading, so maybe if we did more than that, I will get a better understanding of the work.

  2. For my MIS score i am Musical/Rhythm and for my LEAD am Visual. I can honestly say i use none of the strategies for musical/rhythm learning. i find listening to music distracting when studying. Although writing a song using notes sounds like it would be fun and i think sadly i could benefit from it. Just never thought to do it. So, if a subject in either math 20 or English 60 appears to be to difficult i may actually try it...maybe.
For the LEAD results I definitely could use pictures and diagrams to help me with learning in math or English.I know i am a visual learner for sure because in English, for example, i like to us the clustering or brainstorming technique when coming up with ideas for a paper.

  3. The multiple intelligences survey said that my strength is in logic/ math. I agree with this because I am a very logical person. Also I am a good problem solver. My LEAD score said that I am a visual learner. I do not agree with this as strongly. While I do learn well from reading texts, I also get a lot out of lectures.
There are a few things I could do to apply this information in math 20 and English 60. I can try and find connections between the two subjects. I can apply what I am learning to real life situations instead of merely memorizing facts. I can make sure and give myself some time to reflect on what I have learned that particular day. I can also try and use more charts, graphs, and pictures in my notes to help me better visualize that information.

  4. My MIS results said that I am visual/spatial and my LEAD results also said that I am visual. I already knew that I am a visual learner. I always find that when im learning something new it always helps me to have some pictures or graphs or other visual things related to the topic.
To apply this information more to learning Math and English I can try and visualize the information in my mind to try and connect more with the subject. Also when I take notes I should draw pictures in the margins, use charts and graphs to help visualize the information.

  5. My MIS results have resulted with me being a interpersonal person, with second being a naturalistic person, and third being a logic/math thinker. I think those results are really close to what I'm based upon as a person and how I think. Including the way I act around others, my hobbies, and how I study things.
The LEAD results have based my strengths on being a good visual and tactile learning under many circumstances. To apply this method to my english class this semester I could possibly ask more questions, studying what my professor is writing on the board, and make sure I read throughtout the material pretty heavily.

  6. The highest score i received on the MIS was a 15 in Musical/Rhythm. I agree with this information as I enjoy listening to music while studying and doing homework. If I am writing and there is music on in the background, I feel as though the writing flows a lot smoother. When I am doing math, silence makes my brain strain because I'm only focusing on the numbers. Listening to music seems to fill in that silence.

My top LEAD score was a 15 in auditory. This I feel coincides with my musical/rhythmic intelligences as they both involve listening as a way to learn and work effectively. This is true in the sense that I do not preform as well when I am not verbally instructed. Although I am capable of doing things with only written instructions, I feel much more confident once the task has been explained to me.

  7. My MIS and LEAD results were both somewhat different, but work well with each other for me. The top MIS results were Musical/Rhythm. Which I feel is completely accurate. Most of the time, when I am working on something(and it's allowed) I will most likely have my ipod on. I learn lyrics to songs pretty quickly, and I remember them. I still remember all of the presidents in order, because of a song I was taught in elementary school! Finding out my strongest inelligence, I can now apply that to the way I am learning. I can remember things better by maybe turning it into a song, or even associating it to one of my favorite songs.
The results I got for my LEAD was somewhat different. My strongest scores were visual and auditory. I feel like it's mostly because I like to read, but I love to listen and I respond well to music. I feel like I would learn best by possibly combineing the two styles. I am a social person so a study group, or teaching what I learned, as was suggested in the ESP Course Pack. Once I figure out what works best for my styles of intelligence and learning, I can apply it to my classes. We do a lot of group work in class, and if I learn how to work to my full potential I can do better in class. I also can help my classmates more often than not.

  8. My top MIS results were for visual. I agree with my results because i think that i learn better when i can see what i am doing. If i have something in front of me i think its easier for me to comprehend. If i make graphs or drawings of what i need to do it ma help. My LEAD results said that i am visual and auditory. I think this is also true because if i can make a catchy rhyme for things they are easier to remember. If i get instructions from someone explaining them to me i can perform tasks better than if i have to read them.i should pay attention to teachers instructions instead of just reading the diredctions.

  9. My MIS results were for visuals. I've learned that I am a lot better faster at learning if I have something to look at. I am quicker and the material sticks permanantly if I learn by examples.
My LEAD results also agree. Practicing by repetition increases my and knoledge on the subject I'm working on. Having clear instructions laid out infront of me will also help the material stick to me. Repetition and practice makes perfect.

  10. MIS results said I am Better at learning by examples and repetition. The LEAD results were simila.. If I have instructionslaid out infront of me I will have a better shot at memorizing the material perpenantly. Practicing the same thing always makes me faster and better with the material as well. Repetition and practice makes perfect for me.

  11. My MI ended up being mostly musical. This makes sense for me because I can't focus on my homework or really anything with out music. Even if I'm in class I'm always thinking of a song inside my head. It makes things a lot less stressful and pressuring for me in and outside of the classroom.

My LEAD score said I was visual. This makes sense because when I'm in class and writing notes, I have to write down everything on the board, otherwise I won't fully understand the lesson later on. The same with homework. It is very rare that I do problems inside my head. Even with teh easy ones I tend to write somewhat of a procedure to how I got the answer.

  12. My MIS score was in musical/Rythm which is so true because i can easily remember things if they are rhyming or if i can hear a song about the event. Also my Lead score was vistal which i already was aware of since i have always learned better with graphs and charts. Its better for me to study by looking at my notes rather than someone explaining it to me.

I could apply these two strengths by note taking and making frases. Like that PEMDAS was easy for me to remember because of
"please excuse my dear ant sally". If it wasnt for that i wouldnt know how i would remember. If the teacher continues to show graphs i shall remember.
