You all have read the jelly bean personality descriptions and you've chosen the color that reflects you the most. At the end of class today, I asked you to think about which categories would be easiest for you to work with and which would be more challenging for you to work with. I now want you to also consider which of your traits would make it easy for others to work with you and which of your traits would make it challenging for others to work with you.
For your first blog response, answer the following and post your response:
1) Considering what your strengths and weaknesses are, what can you do to interact more effectively with others when working in a group setting?
[sample response: My color description says that I'm innovative, artistic, a hard worker, and I look at other people's perspectives. Thus, if I were working on a group project, I would offer up ideas on how to make our presentation more creative and I would be willing to put in extra work to see those ideas implemented. At the same time, my description says that I'm not very outspoken. I can see how other people might find this frustrating because they might want to hear my ideas, but I'm usually reserved. Thus, I can make a point of actively voicing at least one idea to any group project, even if I'd rather stay quiet and just listen to other people's ideas.]

1) My color description says that I'm courageous, genuine, and highly influenced by others. If I were working on a group project for a class, I would have that courage to speak up and discuss my opinions on a topic and also listen to what the rest of my group members think about my opinions. My description also says that I make my decisions with feelings and that I act on impulses of the heart. Because of that, I would learn how to make a right decision, even if I have a bad day, and I don't think so much about my desicions being right or wrong.
ReplyDelete1) my color describes me as cheerful, friendly, gets along with almost everyone, ready smile. I would think i would get along with violets and blues i am also a passionate person and creative people keep me intrested. Someone i would not be able to work with maybe just people that think they can get by just by doing a little when it comes to group projects.

Now i can interact better with people by being less organized and for sure less procastination.Just live up to what is expected of me.
ReplyDelete2)well i dont think id work well with people who would be highly structured and organized only for the simple fact that it makes less interesting. im the kind of "go with the flo" person. organization isnt a big deal but i really dont need an exact way things are going to be done. Lets face it if someone wants to do more work im all for that. But i wouldnt neglect my own part of course.
1) My colors describes me as highly structured and organized, neat, and i wanting to know the exact requirements. I feel that what i can contribute to a group would be organization, memorization, and i am able to think about what the consequence's are before i make a decision. The color i feel i would best work with is blue and violet. The reasons for this is because i feel that i also have some of these traits and that the traits i don't have they make up for.
ReplyDelete2) In order to work well with groups i don't think i would be able to work well with. I would have to be more understanding and when it comes to people who are not organized i would either bring that organization to that group or just live without it.
1) My personality color is green. My strengths are leadership, decisiveness, and being able to stay focused on the task at hand. If i were working on a group project i would be able to to keep the group on topic and moving forward. My personality description says i lack some organization. when working with a group i need to make sure that i have all of my thoughts and material ready and organized before we meet.
ReplyDelete2)According to the personality descriptions i think i would have trouble working with "yellow" people. If i was paired in a group with a "yellow" i would encourage them to speak up and voice their opinions and ideas. Also, i would encourage the group to make dicisions together to help those who are alittle indecisive.
1) My color being Violet and Blue, the ways I can interact more effectively include maybe me discussing to my group that they would need to help me improve from me procrastinating, maybe contact me a little more and do some check-ups. Also have them know that I have a short attention spand, and let them know what working conditions they should tell me to be in, and all the question that I may have. I could be handy with my creative and excitable ways though.
ReplyDelete2)To help them work with me, I would try to convince them to put their unhelpful traits aside for this group project and put their best working traits or concentrating methods into working mode. Most include hard working, and neat or organized, which could be vital for the project, something that I maybe don't have.
1)My personality mostly falls under the yellow category. My strengths are that I am a hard worker and I can always look at the positive in every situation and in others opinions. I think that when others work with me I can get everyone excited for the project and be able to contribute with my own thoughts and opinions. I think the one weakness that I do have that others might not like is that I sometimes have a problem making decisions. To fix that I will have to have the group give me a little push towards the right choice. I can also be very soft spoken and quiet especially if im not comfortable in the situation and that might be a problem for some people.
ReplyDelete2)The category I might have a challenge with is the violet and blue category even though I can fall under this category too. I tend to procrastinate as well and I would like to work with people that are going to push me a little to do the get things done. To interact more effectively with these types of people I think I would have to over compensate for there lack of organization and that's not a problem for me.
My color says that I am creative, passionate and exciting which can make working with me fun and interesting for the project. However it also says I am disorganized, a procrastinator and question assignments that are given which might make it hard for group members to deal with me because it may seem like I'd rather be doing something else than the assignment or that I wont agree with my group members opinions on the assignment. But the color also describes me as being a great visionary and can bring up new ideas which will help my group do well on an assignment as well as having a positive attitude that the color also says I have, can help my group.
ReplyDeleteMy color says I am hardworking and artistic. If i was working on a group project I can give some creativity and wont stop working until the project is complete. On the other hand I am sometimes confused with making decisions. So my group members will need to put their input all together to make certain decisions. I don't think i can work well with disorganization and people that have problems dealing with highly structured time. This leads to less input and group meetings. I would help with the organization because without it problems will arise.
ReplyDeleteMy color being red and pink describes me as being genuine, courageous, and highly influencesd by others. Those strengths would help me be out spoken and throw my ideas out there. If people from my group have ideas that we can all agree on it would be easier because i get frustrated easily. People whom i cannot work with are the ones who slack off and expect everyone else to do the work. However, i will try to get them involved and motivated. Also, i do not think i would get along with violet and blue.

I think it would be hard for me to work with people that are too organized and that set time limits seeing that I am a procrastinater.

This would be good in a group because I would be able to think of new things for the group to do and would be able to give a creative imput into any kind of project or paper etc. It also states that I enjoy challanges of different problems, giving me the fearlessness when it comes to approaching different assignments.
ReplyDeleteHowever, because the color I chose is known for their procrastination and sloppiness, the last color choice that would be good for me is the black,tan or white. They are very organized and neat, that it would end up having the both of us at each other's throats and the project or paper would go nowhere. They are also highly organized, which is far from what my color is, given that we thrive on disorganiztion and chaos.
The color that i feel i fall under is red.It says that i smile alot and that i have alot of energy. I feel that this is a good trait to have when it comes to presenting matirial or communicating with group members. It also says that I make my decisions with feeling and and act on impulses of the heart. I feel that this is what leads to my procrastination.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be hard to work with a green type because i hate it when someone tries to become the leader. I feel that everyone should have an equal share in a project. A blue might also be hard to work with because of their lack of attention. I feel that in order to work with these types of people it would be neccessary to communicate clearly and often with them.
1-well i feel that i my strength is being able to talk to others fairly easy and share different opinions. my color was green and it describes me as being respectul and focused. as long as i follow the guidelines and respect others, success will follow.
ReplyDelete2-I think it would be hard to work with unorginized people because they do slow things down. patience is a big factor that i will have to use a lot in order ot complete things clearly.
The personality trait color I chose was violet. The description for that color were: flirty, passionate, highly creative and highly excitable, have new ideas and are visionaries, short attention spans, disorganized, procrastinator, problems with highly structured time, questioning, and set high standards. Some of these are truer than others, for example procrastination is definitely a true one for me. That would be one of my weaknesses, also disorganization. If I was in a group with organized people that would at first frustrate me but after being told how to organize myself I would get the concept. When working in a group I think I could provide some ideas and question my peers ideas to see how they are relevant.
ReplyDeleteI could work with my peers by considering and questioning the way they do something specific. Once I know why and how they are doing it I can adapt and change my ways. I am easy to get along with and would get along easily with my group mates. The difficulty with a group might be procrastination on my part, but with a group that is set on a fixed schedule this wouldn’t be a problem. On the other hand if I was in a group with other procrastinators we might be in a bit of a pickle.

ReplyDeleteMy color description says that I have the ability to get along with everyone and I have a quick wit. This would help in a group setting because I will be able to communicate with all my group members easily. Also I understand things quick and get the hang of it. It also mentions that I am fluent and profound in speech. It says I inspire others to reach their highest potiential as well. This means if in a group assignment, I would try my best and not just rush to finish and leave it just "alright."
ReplyDeleteI might have a challenge being in a group with the violet and blues. Something I really do not like is procrastination. I like getting it done when it is assigned. Also, I am organized, and it states they are disorganized. Although, I can try and help them with that.
I chose the orange jelly bean not knowing that the personality traits that pertain to that color describe me pretty well. Usually cheerful and good natured, gets along well with others, quick wit, encouraging, and always having a ready smile describes me most of the time. Getting along well with others isn't always a positive thing for me though, it can also be a fault. I talk too much, which often gets me in trouble. It even happens at work. I just have to work on focusing on what I'm doing and not be so social.
ReplyDeleteViolets and blues seem like they would be the most challenging to work with. As creative as they may be, they also seem like they may change their mind often. Therefor making it difficult to pick a topic, or figure out how to do a project. They also seem like they may be hard to work with, since they question why and how they must do things.
